This journey combines the most innovative contemporary architecture with the wisdom of traditional Andalusian architecture, thanks to a sensitive and attentive approach to architecture and the place where it is located. The adaptation of architecture to the climate, the use of local materials in construction, as well as the use of intelligent passive strategies are indispensable factors in the traditional architecture and urbanism of these latitudes that connect us with the commitments of today’s architecture. In short, it is a journey to discover an architecture that takes into account all the senses, in which the treatment of light, materials, tactile and sound sensations are transformed into emotions and memories.

The journey aims to awaken a profound rediscovery of our intimate “atmospheres”, of our common cultural roots on both sides of the Mediterranean that are incorporated into the experience of contemporary architecture. Mysterious gardens, floral scents, sounds of fountains, delicate lattices, labyrinthine whitewashed walls… are elements that build exceptional places and unique memories of Andalusia.

Walking tour with our architect-guide through the historic centre of Seville and the Santa Catalina district, with examples ranging from the Renaissance architecture of Casa Pilatos to the avant-garde project of Las Setas de Sevilla: Casa Pilatos (entrance included), Convent of Santa María de los Reyes (MGM renovation), residential building C/ M. Coronel (Cruz y Ortiz), Metropol Parasol (entrance included).

Dinner on your own. Return to the hotel and accommodation.

DAY 2 Friday 29 December – Seville

Breakfast at the hotel.

Stroll through the neighbourhoods of Centro and Santa Cruz, which basically portray Islamic architecture and contemporary interventions:

Visits to CICUS, Madre de Dios Convent (MGM reform), Reales Alcazares (entrance included), La Giralda, bell tower of Seville Cathedral. Reserve lunch at the Lonja del Barranco

Triana Market, Triana Ceramics Museum (AF6 Architecture, entrance included), Hotel and restaurant of the Montalván Pottery Complex (AF6), Torre del oro, Paseo Fluvial, recognising a number of recent interventions.

Dinner and free evening.

Free return to Hotel Macia Sevilla Kubb 4*.

DAY 3 Saturday 30 December – Seville – Cadiz

Breakfast at the hotel.

Meet your guide at the hotel reception and transfer to Cadiz, a unique province of contrasts between the Atlantic and the Mediterranean, coast and mountains, vineyards and marshes.

We will start with a stop in the mythical city of Jerez to visit some contemporary buildings of great interest such as the Sports Palace of Jerez, the indoor swimming pool of Jerez and the ARCHITECTURE OF THE WINES, designed by some of the most important Spanish architects of the 20th century such as Fisac or Torroja.

Interior visit to a winery including wine tasting and tapas (entrance included).

Arrival in Cádiz, walk along the long promenade of the historic centre: Parque Genovés, Pérgola Building (JL. Bezos), Baluarte de la Candelaria (Cruz y Ortiz), Rehabilitation of Casa Plátano (MGM), Cathedral, Mirador between Cathedrals (Campo Baeza), La Caleta.

Dinner and return to the hotel.

Overnight at the Hotel Parador de Cádiz 4* or similar.

DAY 4 Sunday 31 December –  Cadiz-Seville

Breakfast at the hotel. Meeting with the guide and private bus. Panoramic visit to several buildings located on the seafront of Cádiz: social housing (Álvaro Siza), IES Drago (Campo Baeza) and Reyes Católicos Public School.

Departure to discover the architecture of the coast of Cadiz, a simple and luminous architecture in which the impact of light on the white walls is the protagonist. Visit to the Montenmedio Foundation, an open-air museum space dedicated to contemporary art and the study of the relationship between art and nature, with works by artists such as Marina Abramović, Maurizio Cattelan, Sol LeWitt, Olafur Eliasson, James Turrell.

Lunch in the village of Véjer, a jewel of the so-called white villages, from where you can see the whole countryside of Gibraltar.

Visit the village of Conil and its contemporary whitewashed architecture, selecting a number of unique works signed by architects such as Campo Baeza and Kauh Arquitectos.

Return to Seville by private bus. Hotel Macia Sevilla Kubb 4*, or similar.

New Year’s Eve dinner in Seville to be determined (optional, with supplement).

Tapas, cocktails, live music, large spaces, excellent decorations with a careful gastronomic proposal.

DAY 5 Monday 1 January – Seville

Breakfast at the hotel, meet your guide at the hotel reception, transfer by private bus.

Walk around the Cartuja Island, where EXPO’92 was held, transformed into a LABORATORY OF CONTEMPORARY PRACTICES: Caixaforum Seville (Vázquez Consuegra), Torre Sevilla, Pabellón de la Navegación, CAAC (entrance included).

Free lunch

Visit to the Hospital de la Cartuja (MGM), the Andalusian Energy Agency and the converted Universal Exhibition sites and pavilions, such as the Finland Pavilion. Crossing of the Barqueta Bridge and panoramic view of the Alamillo Bridge (Calatrava).

Return to the hotel, dinner and free evening. Night in Seville.

DAY 6 Tuesday 2 January –  Seville

Breakfast at the hotel.

Meeting with your guide at the hotel reception to start a private bus tour of the most emblematic public buildings by the architects Cruz y Ortiz:

Junta de Andalucía Administrative Building, Santa Justa Station, Infanta Elena Library, Faculty of Communication. Visit to Plaza España, the cruise terminal of the port of Seville. Free lunch.

In the afternoon, visit to the Palmas Altas Campus of Richard Rogers, the Cabildo Training Centre (Sol 89) and the new rooms of the Pablo de Olavide University (MGM).

In the evening, GROUP DINNER at RESTAURANTE SEIS or similar (included).

Free return to Hotel Macia Sevilla Kubb 4*.

DAY 7 Wednesday 3 January – Seville

Breakfast at the hotel and check out.

If you wish, ask for the option of booking flights and airport transfers.
