Architecture of France and Switzerland through Le Corbusier
Our coach will take you to roman aqueducts, medieval castles, master works by Le Corbusier; his last contemporary architecture projects in France and switzerland.
On our trip to these neighboring countries, nearby yet unknown, we will see the work every architect should experience as part of their professional education.
The objective is to take a bus tour to get a historical overview of the architecture of France; from roman aqueducts to medieval castles to the modern buildings of master architect Le Corbusier as well as new and surprise contemporary architecture projects.
Our bus will stop in the following cities: Nîmes, Marseille, La Tourette, Ronchamp, Geneva, La Chaux de Fonds and Lausanne. We will begin the bus trip in Barcelona and end in Geneva (Switzerland).

Meet participants in Barcelona. Leave on private bus for Nîmes. Duration: approx. 5 hours.
13:00 Planned tour in the afternoon of Nîmes and surrounding area: Maison Carrée (Roman Temple, 5 A.D.), Carré d’Art (Norman Foster), Nîmes Arena. Social housing Nemausus 1, Jean Nouvel. Leave on private bus for Marsella, passing through Pont Du Gard. Duration: approx.
2.5 hours.
Stop at the Roman Aqueduct Pont Du Gard (19a.C), Amphitheater (1d.C.). Arrive at Marseille.
Lodging in La Unité d’Habitation (Le Corbusier, 1952).
DAY 2 – MARSELLA– TOURETTE ÉVEUX
Breakfast and check out of La Unité de Habitació. Guided tour of l’Unité d’Habitació (Le Corbusier). (Time to be confirmed).
Visit the old port of Marseille (Vieux Port). Leave on bus for Éveux. Duration: approx 4.5 hours. Arrive at Éveux and visit
exterior of the La Tourette convent (Le Corbusier, 1960).

*If not possible due to travel dates around Holy Week, we will stay the night in Lyon (half an hour from Éveux).
DAY 3 – RONCHAMP – CHAUX FONDS
Breakfast and check out of La Tourette convent, collect luggage.Leave by bus for Ronchamp. Duration: approx. 5 hours.
Lunch on your own in Ronchamp.
In Ronchamp, we recommend a guided tour of Notre Dame du Haut Chapel by Le Corbusier.
Take bus to La Chaux-de-Fonds; birthplace of Le Corbusier. Duration: approx. 2.5 hours
Check in hotel, dinner on your own and free evening.
Night in Chaux-de-Fonds.
approx. 2 hours, with a stop in Vevey to visit la Villa Jeanneret-Perret, Maison Blanche (Le Corbusier, 1912). Tour of Laussane in the Rolex Learning Centre (SANAA, 2010).
Visit Laussane on your own in the afternoon: Our Lady of Laussane Cathedral, Ouchy Castle, St. Mary’s Castle, Tour del’Ale etc.
Check in hotel and night in Laussane.
DAY 4 – CHAUX FONDS – LAUSSANE
Breakfast. Morning visits: La Chaux-de- Fonds, birthplace of Le Corbusier, where we can see the exterior of his beginning work: Villa Stotzer, Villa Schwob, La Scala Cinema, Villa Jaquemet and Villa Fallet (1907).
Travel by bus to Laussane. Duration: approx. 2 hours, with a stop in Vevey to visit la Villa Jeanneret-Perret, Maison Blanche (Le Corbusier, 1912). Tour of Laussane in the Rolex Learning Centre (SANAA, 2010).
Visit Laussane on your own in the afternoon: Our Lady of Laussane Cathedral, Ouchy Castle, St. Mary’s Castle, Tour del’Ale etc.
Check in hotel and night in Laussane.
DAY 5. GENEVA
Breakfast and check out of hotel in Laussane. Leave by bus for Geneva. Duration: approx. 1.5 hours.
Check in hotel in Geneva.
Visits in Geneva: Walk along the pier, Saint-Peter Cathedral, Rosseau Island etc. and Clarté Building by Le Corbusier.
Night in Geneva.
DAY 6. GENEVA AND RETURN
Breakfast and check out of hotel in Geneva, collect luggage.
Board bus to Barcelona, return home. Duration: approx. 10 hours with stops.
