French architecture through Le Corbusier, Jean Nouvel and Firminy

We know Paris for its symbols like the eiffel Tower,  but it is also very interesting to get to know the city through the work of a great architect like Le Corbusier. Especially for those who’ve already visited Paris, this trip is a great way to see the city an urban development point of view.

The works and thought of Le Corbusier are still valid today, both in practice as well as teaching and in architectural theory. As one of the key figures in modern architecture, the continual movement within him and his works are a direct model.

On this trip through the french architecture we will visit well-known works of great contemporary architects in Paris like the Arab World Institute by Jean Nouvel, the Library of France by Dominique perrault, and the Centre pompidou by Renzo piano and Richard Rogers, among others.

DAY 1 – PARIS​

Arrival of flight from UK.
Transfer to hotel and check in.

Visit the center of Paris to discover these must-sees:

Tour Eiffel zone and Trocadero, where you can see the new Quai Branly Museum by Jean Nouvel and the houses on Rue Frenklin by Auguste Perret.
Our route continues to Arc de Triomphe, the Champs Elysées, Place de la Concorde and l’Esplanade des Invalides.

To finish our visit, we recommended walking around and dining in the zone of Pigalle with Moulin Rouge and Montmatre with Sacre Coeur and the bohemian restaurants.

Return to hotel, dinner and free evening in the city. Night in Paris.

 DAY 2 – PARIS

Breakfast and 4-hour guided tour with our architect.

Transport to University City, where we will visit the Swiss Pavilion by Le Corbusier and the Brazilian Pavilion by Le Corbusier and Lucio Costa.

We will see the nearby Ozenfant Atelier, also by Le Corbusier.

Transfer to Latin Quarter and visit the Arab World Institute by Jean Nouvel and Centre Pompidou by Renzo Piano and Richard Rogers.

Free afternoon: We recommend walking along the Seine River, the Louvre museum and Notre Damme Cathedral.

Night in Paris.

 DAY 3 – TRIP TO VILLA SAVOYE (POISSY)​

Breakfast. Private bus available 8 hours for guided tour of the exterior of Villa Stein by Le Corbusier, still a private house today.

Meet group and head to Poissy to visit the highlights of: Villa Savoye.

Lunch on your own in the center of Poissy. Transfer to Louis Carré House by Aalvar Aalto. On the way back, we will pass by the Cartier Foundation by Jean Nouvel.

Return to hotel, dinner and free evening in the city. Night in Paris.

DAY 4 – PARIS AND RETURN​

Breakfast at the hotel and meet guide- architect in the hall for an explanation of the day’s tour.

During the guided our, we will visit the more cutting-edge part of Paris.

We will go to the district of La Defense, where we can go up to the top floor to see the Grand Arche by Otto von Spreckelsen look out over the entire city and visit the intervention of Zehrfuss, Hammoutene, Gino Valle many more.

Later, we will visit the National Library of France, by Dominique Perrault.

Check out of hotel, transfer to airport and return flight.
